SO I am working on some nests etc. Love to try them out next time and let someone else go Allied!BThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16183373880970621165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4792842363822667133.post-21011033704067400462013-11-25T19:46:44.703-08:002013-11-25T19:46:44.703-08:00I quite like the Battle board - we had no idea wha...I quite like the Battle board - we had no idea what scenario we were going to play until after I had set it all up. It think it would be easy enough to make a couple of flat sections from MDF to give variety (or insert a river etc)

Normally I would put the hills at the corners, and it is designed for 25mm, but it looks great! Also I filled in the skull sections with Permafil because I thought they looked a little silly and restricted what I was able to use it for.BThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16183373880970621165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4792842363822667133.post-54732877849369507162013-11-25T17:16:53.259-08:002013-11-25T17:16:53.259-08:00It certainly dominated the game deployment especia...It certainly dominated the game deployment especially, as centrally placed it couldn't be avoided with the mission rolled... The cliff edge all round would have made vehicle movement impossible, and I also lost a pak that coundnt retreat off the edge! It does have a couple of ways up and down, but its very restricting. Plus although the cliff edges are only about an inch high, scaled at 15mm that's a pretty sheer drop! Wheres my commando with their Mountaineer skill when you need it!? Oh wait, I was playing krauts, curses!

I think, it would have been better to have the hill sections to the tables corners, rather than as one central hill, for a general anything goes mission... but for a scenario specific mission it does indeed make for a great centre piece...Scottswargaminghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00581220877007982139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4792842363822667133.post-37692793722698330252013-11-25T16:19:34.754-08:002013-11-25T16:19:34.754-08:00Though luck Scott, thrilling report.Though luck Scott, thrilling report.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04802420094217299660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4792842363822667133.post-40472066203492083012013-11-25T16:01:01.670-08:002013-11-25T16:01:01.670-08:00Well done Bryan, and an entertaining report too. I haven't pulled it out for a little while because of that, but might be a little more tempted to do so seeing how nice it looks in these pictures.Dan Vincenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09020492418016163136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4792842363822667133.post-41464450493568944622013-11-25T13:31:28.481-08:002013-11-25T13:31:28.481-08:00Good report Bryan, and great to have you contribut...Good report Bryan, and great to have you contributing to the blog.

Congrats on the win.

Cauldron is a bugger of a mission - for both players... defender has to defend all sides as attacker could come from anywhere, and attacker doesn't really know his plan until his random deployment is revealed.

That cliff edged hill in the middle of the battlefield certainly made things interesting too... it took me ages trying to decide which side to defend, in terms allowing me easy movement to reinforce one objective or the other, and how best to hope my reserves may be able to get onto the table in time to help...

I ummed and arred about firing my guns back at your tanks, but just felt like hoping they'd just stay alive staying GTG...
As for my infantry, well they hung on in there and at least gave you a bloody nose for your trouble... I knew the paks wouldnt be able to hold off the assault by themselves so had to risk the CO reroll to keep the infantry remnants on the board, but it wasnt to be...

My reserves didnt do as well as I hoped, I though the panzers would run over the 25pdrs, hitting them from behind, but hadnt realised turntables would give them def fire shots and they are ROF2! I had hoped to hit the battery, then being tanks break off through them and sort of slingshot forward to try and get to and reinforce the threatened objective, but it wasnt to be... Cauldron is odd with reserves as the players typically find one platoon come on to nobble the other in turn... it nice to kill the 17pdrs!

I think perhaps I should have deployed the infantry around the objectives, not as a 'high line', giving me a more open amount of def fire, as the woods ended up helping you get into assault...

Overall it wasn't the Reichs finest hour... and failing my bog test to reverse out of your driveway put the icing on the cake! ;-)Scottswargaminghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00581220877007982139noreply@blogger.com
